MATCH REACTION
Another night, another nothing, and somehow that's on us
Everton at home, another goalless night, and already this morning the same three pundits are lining up to call it a crisis. Nobody explains why a scoreless draw for the other lot is "resilient" and a scoreless draw for us is a symptom.

Let's be honest about where we are. It has been a winless start, the rebuild is real, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. I am not going to sit here and tell you last night was a footballing masterclass, because it wasn't. What I will say is that a goalless draw at home, in the middle of the biggest squad overhaul this club has undergone in years, is not the same story the rest of the country is trying to sell you.
Every side going through a rebuild this size has nights like that. New spine, new patterns, a manager still working out who trusts who in the final third. What you don't get, if your name is Tottenham, is the benefit of the doubt while that happens. You get a headline instead. Ask yourself who writes that headline, who pays them, and which clubs those same people need to keep sweet to keep their access next season. Then ask why it is always our turn.
Here's the part that never gets said out loud. A blank scoreline usually means both sides cancelled each other out. Somehow, whenever it's us, the story becomes about our attack collapsing, never about the away side setting up to survive. Same match, same result, completely different verdict depending on which end of the pitch you support.
A nothing result is only a nothing story if nobody's decided in advance who it's supposed to hurt.
None of this changes what matters, which is Liverpool next. That's the fixture that actually tells you something, not a Saturday night against Everton that the narrative machine had already written before kickoff. De Zerbi doesn't need the country's patience. He needs about six more weeks of people leaving him alone to finish what he's building, and he is not going to get that, because a club running itself this properly is never allowed to rebuild quietly.
So call it a bad night if you want. I call it Tuesday. The pattern doesn't take days off, and neither do I.
